Important: Please note that the streets in La Caleta are fairly steep so this house may not be suitable for the severely disabled, very young or elderly people. Beaches: There is a choice of beaches. To the east La Guardia, with two beachfront restaurants, is a five-minute walk or the main beach at Salobreña is a pleasant 20-minute walk along the shore; to the west, a short walk along the coastal path will bring you to a rocky but very quiet bay, much less frequented and superb for quiet relaxation. Golf: There is a golf course and driving range at Motril, approximately 15 minutes and another at Otura, on the Granada-Motril motorway, approximately 45 minutes by car. Skiing: Skiing in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, approx 1.5 hours drive. Travel: The nearest airport is Granada approximately one hour by car. Málaga is about 90 minutes by car and Almeria airport is about the same distance from the east. Car Hire - A car is recommended and can be hired from the airport or preferably pre-booked via the Internet. Distances: Salobreña is a 5-minute drive or 20-minute walk. Almuñécar is approx 10-minutes and Granada with the fabulous Alhambra Palace some 45 minutes away. Further details: There is something for everyone. The village of La Caleta has two bars, a tobacconist, a greengrocer and a bakery; all within a few minutes walk of the house. Salobreña offers a much wider variety of shops and supermarkets, plus some excellent restaurants and bars. There is plenty to do in the area from visiting the castle at Salobreña, golf, tennis, scuba diving and snorkeling, horse-riding, walking nearby or hiking in the Alpujarras, skiing in the Sierra Nevada mountains, visiting the Alhambra Palace and markets in Granada - and of course the beach - only a few minutes walk away.
